8 things to do before 8 am to have a productive day

I have always been a morning person. When I was in school I used to get up at 4 to study because I wanted to be done with a major portion of my studies before anyone else in the home gets up. You see I used to get distracted very easily, so when my family woke up and started talking to each other it gave me ample opportunities to be distracted.  Hence getting up early was the best solution for me.

But in the previous few years, the need of getting up early went down as I started living away from my family and I am mostly alone at my place. So I became lazy and mismanaged.  So I had no fixed morning routine 

Slowly I started noticing changes in my capacity to work and my capacity to produce results and I had no idea why this happened until I started doing these 8 things before 8 am. This made me realize why I was so productive when I woke up early. 

So here I bring you 8 things that you need to do before 8 am to have a highly productive day. 

1. Drink water. Yes, you have read it right. You should drink at least 3 glasses of water before 8 am and you cannot do that if you keep sleeping till 8 or even if you get up at 8. Drinking water helps flush the toxins from your body. It helps you clean up your digestive system and hence you have a healthy gut. 
2. Workout. Even if it is only for 15 minutes do something to activate your physical body. When you activate your body early in the morning you feel less lethargic. The activity that starts in the morning continues well as you proceed further into your day. And benefits of working out is not something that I need to mention.

3. Have a bath and get dressed up. This helps a lot and I believe this routine has been really hammered since the lockdown. As we don't need to go anywhere we just don't dress up anymore. In fact, many of us also postpone having a bath till late afternoon (sometimes also skipping it entirely). Imbibe this in your routine that before you start your day you would have a bath and dress up even if you have to stay at home. 

4. Have a good breakfast. Your breakfast is the most important meal of your day. So make sure whatever you eat is healthy and helps you throughout the day. Prefer home-cooked meals rather than having cornflakes and packed juices. Give your stomach a great start to the day too.

5. Create a to-do list. You need to sit down in peace and note down what you are supposed to do the entire day. Having your goals written down enhances your productivity towards them. 
6. Read. Read something to give you seed for thought. Read something inspiring. read something knowledgeable. Get up 30 mins earlier than your usual time and give that time to read. Whether you are a student, a working professional, a homemaker, or a retired individual, it doesn't matter. Give yourself time to learn and develop yourself.
7. Get some sun. It is important for your body and mind that you take some sunlight in the morning. The morning sunrays are good for your body to absorb Vitamin D that lack of which can make you tired and lethargic all the time. So take in some morning sunlight before 8 am.
8. Say your prayer or meditate. Praying in the morning gives your day a positive and focused start. If you are an atheist then start your day with meditation. It is all the same. Giving a focused and positive start to your day will keep you calmer and filled with energy.
So, create a morning routine for things you need to do every day before 8 am and follow it religiously to have a great and productive day ahead.
