बेटी तुम बड़ी मत होना
बेटी तुम बड़ी मत होना
कुछ सवाल उठाये जायेंगे कुछ परम्पराएं दिखाई जाएँगी
तुम्हारी ख़ुशी के बदले तू देवी बना दी जाएगी
इनके झूठे दिलासो  में अपनी हसी मत खोना
बेटी तुम बड़ी मत होना

समाज के ठेकेदार हर चीज़ का ठेका लेते है
औरत के धर्म का ठेका लेते है
औरत के शर्म का ठेका लेते है
इनकी वाहियात लांछनो से दुखी मत होना
बेटी तुम बड़ी मत होना

बड़ी होकर न तुम कोई झूठा संसार बसाना
अपने आंसू के कीमत पर न घर परिवार बसाना
जिस रिश्ते में प्यार न हो उसपर सती मत होना
बेटी तुम बड़ी मत होना

I heard this poem on Kaun Banega Crorepati a TV show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. This contestant spoke well about how we in India are always restricting our women to live their lives in a certain way and how this concept of self-care which isn't even known in India has been so important in the western countries for decades. We haven't also accepted yet that it is important and they have been following it for so many years.

So to all the women out there, I would just like to say -

The relation you have with yourself will define your life and the relations that you have with others. Take care of yourself, live your dreams, take some time out, learn new things, have an opinion, speak out, come out of your shells and live your life. You have just one life, don't waste it on the senseless and baseless rules made by the so-called society.
