Each of us has 24 hours in our day and there are only 3 ways that we spend our time - Thoughts, Conversations, and Actions. 

Whether you are a student or working personnel your work will be composed of all three elements i.e, thoughts, conversations and actions. So what brings about the difference in a successful and not yet successful person? It is time that you choose to spend on each of the 3 elements. 

What thoughts you allow your mind to pursue, how productive your conversations and thoughts are and what actions are you taking? Most of us have a busy week and day to day work or classes is something that surrounds us. It may also have become monotonous but not all of us can leave our job and go around the world to travel and fulfill our dreams. Not all of us can become backpackers and not all of us can suddenly change the way we live. We cannot drop our current life and go for some higher education. We have responsibilities, we have families we have a lot to do.

The only time when we can take a break from our daily jobs and spend some quality time for ourselves is the weekend. So here I present the weekend guide of successful people. Here is the difference that you can make to be more successful and live a satisfying life.

How do you spend your weekends? I 'll be honest and tell you that till a few months ago I used to sleep till 10 on weekends. Then I would lazily get up, make some tea, freshen up, roam here and there, check the Instagram statuses, scroll facebook. Then I would order some food by 12 and that would be my breakfast along with my lunch. Then I would start thinking if I have to go somewhere and would decide otherwise. So I would stay in and binge-watched something that would make no sense and would be of no importance to me the minute it gets over. The day passes by. In the evening I would either go to the market to buy my weekly supplies or would go out for dinner or maybe a movie and I would definitely sleep late because come on, I have another day to waste. This is how I spent most weekends. 



Then I learned the secret. A secret of people who are successful and that's when I decided to give it a try. So here I list down 9 things that successful people do on weekends that make them different from those who are not yet successful.
1. Get up at your usual time: The successful people do not oversleep lazily like till 10 or 11 giving excuses to the mind that its a weekend. Your body is used to getting up at a time every day. It will be most active if you follow the body clock and do not alter it heavily. You can extend your time by half an hour but not more than that. So if you get up at 6 every day you can choose to get up by 6.30 on a weekend. Your body knows its time to get up and it will be active. Conversely, if you choose to oversleep you will feel tired and lethargic and the need to sleep some more. If you feel you need some extra sleep choose to sleep early the day before.

2. Exercise: They move their bodies. You may not get time to work out on a weekday, so utilize your weekend and get your body moving. Exercise, practice yoga, play a sport, go for a walk, dance. Just get your body moving. The kind of sedentary lifestyle we are living it is really important for us to keep the bodies moving. So workout at least for an hour.



3. Eat well: They have a heavy breakfast, a lighter lunch, and an even lighter dinner. Instead of going for a fancy dinner choose a fancy lunch if you need to. Eat things that you love to eat. Do not overeat but eat like a king. Don't rush, enjoy your meals. Remember that you have been working hard the whole week to actually feed yourself. So you may not have had time to eat in peace during the week. Make sure you don't do the same on weekends. Savor every bite and eat in peace.

4. Pursue your interest: Work isn't the only part of the life of successful people. They make sure to feed their souls. And how do they do that?  They pursue their hobby, the activities they love, they spend time on recreation. They indulge in something that sparks up their creative geniuses. They fuel their system so that it can run well through the week. Choose anything that you love to do, Take hobby classes, attend creative workshops. Do anything that can help you feel different(positively) than the week you have spent. There is no age limit on anything. Start a new hobby today, learn something new today.

5. Spend time with Friends and Family: The successful people understand that the meaning of success isn't just earning a lot of money or maintaining a position of power. Success is striking the right balance between your personal and professional life. Your friends and family are the most important part of your social life. They are the ones who stand by you in all ups and downs in life. Spend quality time with your spouse, play with your kids, talk to your parents, have a fun evening with your cousins, invite your friends over, have a no-gadgets evening. Engage in any activity that can help you have the human touch.

6. Read: Readers are leaders. The most successful people in the world have said that they never stopped reading. An average person reads 5 to 6 books in a year, while the successful people read 50.  So read one hour each day and make it 2 on weekends. Diversify your reading genre. Read books, articles, catch up with the weekly news, read about developments in your field of work.

7. Spend some time alone: Give time to yourself . to think about the past week and to plan the future week. To review your macro and micro goals. To dream more and to make your Dreamline. Meditate, take a walk, listen to music or just lie down with a scented candle in the room. Choose what helps you think, helps you introspect and helps you plan.




8. Work for a social cause: They work not only for themselves but also for the less fortunate and the world. Listen to your heart, Choose your cause and don't just write a cheque for the charity. Go work for it. Visit an orphanage or an old age home, plant trees, teach the children on the street, spread awareness about mental health, Choose your own cause and work for it on the ground level.


9. Travel: They utilize one weekend of each month to explore new places and travel. There are so many of us who haven't explored our own cities leave alone the nearby cities of places far away. We have a well-fed concept of vacation once a year or maybe twice a year. We don't work on taking the small breaks. At least one weekend every month you choose to go to some new place that you haven't been to before. Yes, you can repeat a few places if you absolutely loved it or you feel there was more to it that you have seen but move out of that house and EXPLORE.

Once I started following a few of them I felt so much better about myself and I am working on following each one of them. Yes sometimes I can cover all sometimes I spend more time in one activity and forget about the other. But overall I feel productive and I feel good about myself. How much it will continue to help only time can tell but I am quite positive about it.
